Sumanth Strikes a Chord in Emotional Family Drama About Education

Telugu star Sumanth returns to fine form in the heartfelt family drama “Anaganaga,” now streaming on ETV Win. Directed by Sunny Sanjay, this OTT original weaves a moving tale around Vyas (Sumanth), an idealistic schoolteacher who challenges the rote, exam-centric system at a leading international school. His wife Bhagi (Kajal Choudhary), the school principal, stands by the rules, setting the stage for a poignant duel of beliefs that unfolds at work and at home.

The plot thickens when Vyas’s new teaching methods result in poor exam results for his son (masterfully played by Viharsh) and his classmates. The management swiftly fires Vyas, triggering a crisis that pits professional integrity against family stability. The heart of “Anaganaga” lies in the delicate, deeply relatable father-son track—Sumanth’s gentle, steadfast encouragement is contrasted with his wife’s strict, systems-driven mindset. Through subtle performances and restrained storytelling, the movie lays bare anxieties faced by modern parents, asking whether true education is about ranks or understanding.

Sumanth delivers one of his best performances yet, lending quiet dignity and vulnerability to Vyas’s struggle. The film’s emotional beats—particularly in the second half—are powerful enough to bring audiences to tears, with a twist in the climax adding gravitas to the protagonist’s journey. Supporting roles, particularly Kajal Choudhary and Avasarala Srinivas, round out the cast with believable, empathetic portrayals.

Technically, “Anaganaga” impresses with Pavan Kumar’s evocative cinematography and a soothing score by Chandu Ravi, while the school environment and production design feel grounded and authentic. While the core theme—of a teacher battling the education system—is familiar and the narrative occasionally predictable, the sincerity of execution gives the film its impact. The film’s message for parents to focus on nurturing creativity rather than chasing marks resonates strongly, making it especially relevant for family viewing.

Ultimately, “Anaganaga” succeeds not with big twists, but with its honesty and the lived-in performances of its leads. It stands as a worthwhile addition to Telugu OTT cinema, offering a touching, thought-provoking look at the bonds and battles that define a family’s journey through modern education.
